Glasgow Community Planning Partnership (GCPP) have commissioned Ann Flint & Associates to map all the organisations that provide community capacity building services (CCB) in Glasgow.

Community Capacity Building is a key priority of Glasgow’s Community Learning and Development (CLD) Strategy and is defined as “Development work that strengthens the ability of community organisations and groups to build their structures, systems, people and skills so they are better able to define and achieve their objectives and engage in consultation and planning, managing community projects and take part in partnerships and community enterprises”.

We would like your organisation to complete the survey if you are involved in CCB with groups and organisations, and provide some or all of the following services:

• build the capacity of people to become confident, skilled and active members of the community groups and organisations;

• provide training, support and resources
• support community leaders and community reps
• build the capacity of community organisations to have greater support and influence
• provide, or signpost to information for community groups
• develop networking opportunities for community groups and/or reps
• provide training and support for partner organisations to carry out CCB activities.

Ann Flint & Associates will approach a large number of organisations to seek details of the services they provide. A short electronic questionnaire will be sent out to potential CCB providers in early March 2008. The work will complete end March 2008.

The information gathered will be used to map community capacity building provision at city and local level, and identify gaps which need to be filled. Subsequently, the information will be published in a directory for community groups.
